Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about ggbro.

Account

How do I create a ggbro account?

Download the ggbro desktop app or visit the web portal. Click "Register" and fill in your username, email, and password. A verification email will be sent to confirm your account.

How do I reset my password?

On the login screen, click "Forgot Password?" and enter your email address. You'll receive a reset link. If you don't see the email, check your spam folder.

How do I enable two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Go to User Settings → Security and click "Enable 2FA." Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator or Authy), then enter the code to confirm. Save your backup codes in a safe place.

How do I change my username or display name?

Go to User Settings → My Account and edit your username or display name. Usernames must be unique.

How do I delete my account?

Contact support@jadadev.com with the subject "Account Deletion." Include your username and registered email. Account deletion is permanent — all your data, messages, and servers you own will be removed.

Servers & Channels

How do I create a server?

Click the "+" button at the bottom of the server sidebar and select "Create Server." Choose a name and optional icon. You'll be the owner with full permissions.

How do I invite people to my server?

Right-click your server or go to Server Settings → Invites and create an invite link. You can set it to expire after a certain number of uses or time period. Share the link with friends.

What are channel categories?

Categories are organizational containers for channels. You can group related text and voice channels together (e.g., "Gaming," "General," "Admin Only"). Drag channels into categories to organize them.

How do roles and permissions work?

Go to Server Settings → Roles to create and manage roles. Each role has a set of permissions (e.g., manage channels, kick members, send messages). Roles are applied in order — higher roles override lower ones. You can also set per-channel permission overrides.

What is server verification?

Verified servers get a golden badge and unlock:

  • Golden invite / join page styling
  • Custom vanity invite URL (e.g. /invite/your-server)
  • 500 MB file uploads for everyone in that server’s channels (vs 25 MB)
  • Up to 3 full server backups (free servers get 1)
  • Backup Now and restore once per day (vs once per week)
  • Daily automatic backup schedule

Open Server Settings → Verified in the app to see status and purchase options.

You can use any language that supports HTTP requests and WebSocket connections. We provide an official Python SDK (ggbro.py) to get started quickly. See the API Reference for full documentation.

How do I add a bot to my server?

In the Developer Portal, go to your application and use the OAuth2 bot invite link. You (or a server admin) must authorize the bot to join the server.

Are bots free to create?

Yes! Creating bots and using the ggbro API is completely free. There are no API usage fees.

Voice & Video

How do voice channels work?

Click on a voice channel to join. Your microphone will activate and you can talk with others in the channel. Use the mute/deafen buttons to control your audio. Voice calls use WebRTC for low-latency peer-to-peer communication.

Is screen sharing supported?

Yes! While in a voice channel, click the "Share Screen" button to share your entire screen or a specific application window.

What do I do if voice isn't working?

Try these steps:

  • Check that your microphone is not muted in the app and in your system settings.
  • Make sure the correct input/output device is selected in User Settings → Voice.
  • Restart the app.
  • If behind a strict firewall, voice may be blocked — try a different network or VPN.

Troubleshooting

The app won't connect / shows "Disconnected"

This usually means the app can't reach the server. Try:

  • Check your internet connection.
  • Restart the app.
  • Clear the app cache: Settings → Advanced → Clear Cache.
  • Check our status page or community for any ongoing outages.
Messages aren't sending

If messages appear stuck or fail to send:

  • Check your internet connection.
  • Make sure you have permission to send messages in the channel.
  • If the channel has slow mode enabled, wait for the cooldown timer.
  • Try restarting the app.
How do I report a bug?

Email support@jadadev.com with the subject "Bug Report." Include a description of the issue, steps to reproduce it, your operating system, and any screenshots or error messages.

How do I report a user or server?

Right-click on a user or message and select "Report." You can also email support@jadadev.com with details, including the username, server name, and screenshots of the violation.
